Today for Mobility Awareness Month, we are highlighting our Ambassador, @vincentrutley
Wheelchair actor, comedian and writer Vincent Rutley was born and raised in Michigan. He graduated as a thespian in 2004 from Pontiac Northern High school and began pursuing an acting career in the Metro Detroit area. Vince joined over 20 cast and stage productions from 2005 to 2011.
Unfortunately, in November of 2011, Vince was in a near fatal car accident that paralyzed him from mid chest down and was diagnosed as a quadriplegic. Even though this unexpected crisis may have slowed Vince down, it didn’t stop him from pursuing his dreams.
Vince returned back to the stage in his own production titled, “THE STREET CORNER”, recorded live in Detroit. Vince now resides in Phoenix, Arizona and recently signed on with Leighton Agency out of Phoenix and Arise Artists Agency out of LA. He is breaking into the film and commercial scene as a disabled actor, producer and disability advocate.
“After being in a heavy duty power wheelchair for 5 years post accident, I knew I no longer needed that level of support. It was bulky, didn’t fit in most places comfortably and made me feel limited to what I could do. Once I was introduced to the WHILL model M, I’d knew that I had found the perfect brand for where I wanted to go. Shortly after my new relationship with WHILL, the C2 model was introduced giving me a new outlook on power wheelchairs all together. Now, as a wheelchair actor, I’m confidently booking roles and photo shoots that allow me to share a different perspective on disability as a whole. I’m a proud ambassador of the WHILL C2 and look forward to the many places it will take me.”
