This morning I had the honor and privilege of giving a tour to all these wheelchair users and their caregivers from CECO, a local organization that provides innovative educational and life-skills based programs that transform the lives of individuals with neurological motor disabilities, like cerebral palsy.
It was a challenge for me because the nature of the tour involves a lot of Q&A and interactive back-and-forth, and most of the wheelchair users in my group were nonverbal. But we all figured out a way to make it work, and I wish you could’ve seen their expressions and heard their vocalizations when they got so excited to see all the beautiful art in the museum!
I also got the added bonus of finding out that a couple of the caregivers have been following me for years on social media. Yes, tears were shed. As OMA’s first docent in a wheelchair, I’m so lucky to be able to do this.
